A Novel Ship Power System Using Zero Carbon Fuel and its Energy Efficiency Management Method

Under the background of low carbon development of the shipping industry, the application of clean energy hybrid power system would certainly play an important role for the carbon emission reduction of ships. In this paper, a novel power system using zero carbon fuel in the form of “ammonia fuel engine + permanent magnet synchronous reversible motor + battery + super capacitor” is designed. On this basis, the equivalent energy consumption allocation strategy and the fuzzy control rules are proposed to achieve the energy efficiency management of the hybrid system. The proposed power system using zero carbon fuel and the energy efficiency management method can effectively improve the environmental benefit, meanwhile meeting the ship’s power requirement, and can contribute to the development of low carbon shipping.
