A Compact Planar Semi-Elliptical Antenna for UWB Applications

This paper presents a compact semi-elliptical monopole structure with Asymmetric Coplanar Strip (ACS) feeding having Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) characteristics. The proposed semi-elliptical patch radiator is having a size of 5.5×4.5 mm
²
and is fed by 50-ohm impedance ACS line of dimensions 3.058×8.22 mm
²
and is printed on an FR4 Epoxy substrate of size 28 × 11.5 × 1.6 mm.

A sectorial bending its created on coplanar ground plane to get the desirable UWB characteristics. The antenna is fabricated and tested for the performance. The measured impedance bandwidth covers entire UWB range with good return loss characteristics. This antenna Would be promising for high-speed communication.
