Study on the Pole-slot Combination of Low Power Series Pole Changing Line Start Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Pole Changing line start permanent magnet synchronous motor (LSPMSM) can effectively improve the starting capability of LSPMSM through greatly reducing the braking torque and pulsating torque during starting process. However, when pole changing starting scheme is adopted, the stator slots need to satisfy the requirements of two pole states of the pole-changing winding simultaneously. So the pole-slot combination needs to be further studied. In this paper, aiming at low power series pole changing LSPMSM, taking 8-pole, 6-pole and 4-pole motor as examples, the pole-slot combination (only the case of integer slots is considered) is analyzed when 6/8, 4/6,2/4 pole changing starting schemes are respectively adopted. And finally the feasible pole-slot combination is determined. The results show that in order to meet the requirements of the pole changing winding on stator slots, the stator slots should be the common multiple of 6
