Open-Circuit Fault-Tolerant Current Solution for Five-Phase PMSM With Neutral Current Suppression

Five-phase permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) with high fault-tolerant performance is one of the excellent choices for high reliability applications. In this paper, a fault-tolerant current solution scheme for a five-phase surface-mounted PMSM (SPMSM) with neutral point led out is proposed. First, the overall control scheme is established based on the mathematical model of the five-phase SPMSM. Then, the constant magneto motive force is taken as the basic fault-tolerant control principle, and the neutral current amplitude constraint is combined. The cuckoo search algorithm is used to optimize the fault-tolerant current expression under fault with the objectives of maximum torque output and minimum copper loss, respectively. To further reduce the torque pulsation during fault-tolerance, the solution of the third harmonic current injection is proposed with the objectives of minimizing the torque harmonic amplitude and maximizing the average torque. Finally, the feasibility of the fault-tolerant current and fault-tolerant vector control scheme is verified by simulations.
