Comparison Study of Different FSCWs with Flux Barrier Stator

The new stator configuration with magnetic flux-barriers in the stator tooth region represents an efficient method for reducing the sub-harmonics of electric machines with FSCW. Moreover, at the same time the flux-barriers in the stator increase the amplitude of the working harmonic and produce higher torque compared with conventional stators. In this work, this technique has been investigated for different single-layer FSCW topologies. The analysis of numerous permanent magnet machines with FSCW and flux barrier stator shows higher performances compared to the common stator designs. Moreover, the newly proposed FSCW flux barrier machine also provides better torque ripple characteristics compared to the previous designs.
