2×2 Planar Array of X-Shaped Slot Antennas for Millimeter Wave Frequency Band

In this paper, a 2×2 planar array of slot antennas for use in local 5G of 28 GHz frequency band is presented. The X-shaped slot antennas are used as radiating elements in the planar array. The feeding circuits of the planar array are conventional microstrip line and slot line. In this paper, antenna characteristics are evaluated by using the Finite Element Method in the commercial simulation software EMPro (Keysight). From the simulation results, -10 dB impedance bandwidth is obtained within the frequency range of 27.4 GHz to 30.5 GHz which is about 3.1 GHz bandwidth. The realized gain has the peak value of 14.6 dBi within 28.3 GHz to 28.5 GHz.
