Acoustic Analysis of Vowels in Kokborok for Male and Female Native Speakers of Tripura

This paper generally focuses on the acoustic analysis of vowels of the language called Kokborok spoken by the Borok or Tripuris belonging to the Sino-Tibetan linguistic group and racial Mongoloids. The Kokborok language is a low resource language which consists of 9 (nine) sub-dialect such as Noatia, Debbarma, Jamatia, Reang, Koloi, Murasing, Rupini, Tripura and Uchoi speaking the common language called Kokborok. A close study on the Kokborok language has 6 vowel letters (a, e, i, o, u, w) and 21 consonant this 6-vowel characteristic are being studied for the acoustic analysis in the Kokborok language. The result of language identification is also encouraging for these low resource languages. It is one of the official languages of the state of Tripura in North Eastern Region of India. The acoustic analysis of the vowels in the Kokborok language for male and female native speakers have been carried out using the Formant based analysis and Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficient (MFCC) based spectrogram analysis in Alexnet.
