Electric Vehicle Adoption in Rajasthan: Trends, Challenges and Strategies

This paper examines the latest trends in electric vehicle (EV) adoption in India, with a focus on Rajasthan. The study aims to forecast future EV sales in Rajasthan and identify potential obstacles to adoption through a literature review of existing research and analysis of current market conditions and trends. Despite high solar energy potential, favourable policies, substantial market potential, and growing awareness of sustainable transportation in Rajasthan, challenges such as a lack of charging infrastructure, high initial costs, limited range, and extreme weather conditions remain. To address these obstacles and promote successful EV adoption in India, particularly in Rajasthan, the study proposes strategies such as converting parking lots into EV charging stations, offering financing options or leasing programs to make EVs more affordable, manufacturing EVs under the Make in India initiative; designing thermal management systems to prevent battery deterioration; locating new markets for raw materials; and investing in education and training programs to cultivate a skilled labour force.
