Routing and Security in Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: State of the Art and Recent Advances

The significance of several wireless network technologies has grown in the recent years. Collaboration between fixed communication infrastructure and wireless ad-hoc networks is especially important in communication contexts marked by harsh situations, such as catastrophes, war, and terrorism. In this paper we have made an extensive survey for understanding the state-of-the art in the literature related to the routing in WSN, the efficiency in using the machine learning methods for routing and security in WSN. The paper describes a detailed architecture of WSN, the routing challenges identified, the machine learning methods that applicable, routing protocols, the network simulators. The paper gives the summary of best research works carried out in the literature and few more in the form of tabulation.
