A Capacitor-Based Boost Nine-Level Inverter with Less Switching Device Count

The particular voltage boosting and natural balancing capabilities of switched-capacitor (SC) based architecture are driving their widespread adoption. Nevertheless, specific present structures need several dc sources, and others need a lot of switches with peak voltage stress in order to provide high-quality output. That’s a major problem with SC-based multilevel inverters used for PV applications. This paper offers a novel single-input SC MLI that eliminates these problems by generating a nine-level output with fewer parts. In order to achieve the necessary voltage boost while still only using two capacitors, the suggested design makes use of a novel SC unit. There is no need for a voltage-balancing control method since the capacitor voltages cancel each other out. The SC unit’s two capacitors are charged to a voltage level equal to half the input voltage. The simulation results under dynamic operating settings are offered to prove the MLI’s efficacy.
