Simulation of the ion beam at the atmospheric pressure interface of a mass spectrometer

The selection of a simulation model is a crucial factor in the analysis of ion motion and the design of a mass spectrometer. This is due to the intricate physical field composition of the mass spectrometer and its multi-stage vacuum setup, which necessitates the utilization of simulation techniques. The selection of a suitable simulation model is contingent upon the analyte and the surrounding physical environment. Simulating the gas in the capillary, we solve the Navier-Stokes equation to ascertain the physical state of particles at the exit, incorporating this into the tube-skimmer model. To determine the ultimate ion transport efficiency, we simulate the collision of ions with the background gas instead of the flow field and validate this experiment
