A State-of-the-Art Review on Modern Artificial Intelligence based Techniques for Economic Load Dispatch

The objective of this paper is to offer a survey on recently developed artificial intelligence (AI) techniques applied for solving economic load as well as emission dispatch problem. Economic load dispatch is a complex and non-linear optimization problem in power system, hence it requires an adequate dispatch strategy. For solving this problem, a variety of optimization techniques have been reviewed in the article. These techniques are some of the newly developed techniques which were not used very frequently for this problem. Description of problem formulation and constraints of ELD problem are also reported in the article. Detailed discussion of optimization techniques and comparison of their merits and demerits have been presented and relevant conclusions have been drawn.
