Frequency Reconfigurable MIMO Antenna for Laptop Applications

This paper presents a frequency reconfigurable PIFA antenna for Laptop computer for operating at LTE bands. The antenna consists of two PIFA radiating elements printed on FR4 Epoxy substrate of size $5\times 200\times 1\mathrm{m}\mathrm{m}^{3}$. The antenna switches between two LTE bands using two PIN diodes D1 and D2, and a T shaped bias circuit. The antenna radiates LTE 17/13 bands covering frequency range of 736-841 MHz when D1 and D2 are ON and radiates LTE 20/7 bands when D1 and D2 are OFF. The antenna is fabricated for OFF state of ideal diodes and tested for reflection coefficient characteristics using vector network analyzer and is found to be in good agreement with simulation results.
