Smart shoes for Parkinson’s Patients

This paper presents a smart shoe for Parkinson’s disease patients, capable of detecting freezing of Gait (FoG) by utilizing force-sensitive resistors and an accelerometer. The device employs a vibratory motor to provide cues for resuming walking, thereby enhancing mobility of the patients. Additionally, this device sends the data to the cloud, enabling remote monitoring by healthcare professionals. The device’s low-cost, compact design shows promising potential for improving the quality of life and management of Parkinson’s disease.
