Specialized Writing Courses: Changing National Trends

Through experience as administrators, instructors, and researchers, these panelists have identified a growing demand for specialized writing courses taken by non-writing majors. The IRB-approved study this panel discusses helps identify common political and institutional forces behind initiatives for changing and creating specialized writing classes in university settings; examines questions about who teaches these courses; and clarifies what the growing interest in these courses can tell us about the changing field of technical and professional communication and its future directions.
