Compositional dependence of structure, magnetic and electrical conduction properties of CoxPt1-x alloy nanowires fabricated by electrodeposition into nanoporous templates

We report on compositional dependence of structure, magnetic and electrical conduction properties of CoxPt1-x alloy nanowires fabricated by electrodeposition into nanoporous polycarbonate templates. Scanning electron microscopy analysis shows that the wires have the average length and width of 9.0 μm and 130 nm, respectively, with x ~0.7. Anisotropic magnetoresistance (AMR) measurement of the nanowires with x ~0.7 carried out on Ni electrodes reveals that MR is ~0.11% with peaks observed near zero magnetic field, which is presumably associated with magnetic domain nucleation. Such findings should provide more insightful knowledge basis toward optimized construction of three-dimensional magnetic memory devices.
