Magnetic imaging by the anomalous Nernst effect using atomic force microscopy

We report a method to visualize magnetic domains based on the anomalous Nernst effect in a nanowire of Co2MnGa using atomic force microscopy. The touching AFM tip creates a temperature gradient in the sample, whereby the generated voltage due to the anomalous Nernst effect is measured by lock-in technique. Our method works at room temperature and atmosphere with a high spatial resolution on the magnetic domain compared to similar techniques.
