Examples of Linearity Improvement for Millimeter-Wave 5G Power Amplifiers Using Wideband Digital Predistortion (DPD)

In this paper, we present a couple of examples of effective linearity improvement of millimeter-wave (mm-Wave) 5G Power Amplifiers (PAs) using Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD). The PAs are successfully linearized using 64-QAM /256-QAM 1 x 100 MHz 5G NR input at PAPR (peak-to-average-power-ratio) of 8 dB, and/or with 256-QAM 1 x 20 MHz 4G LTE input at PAPR of 8.7 dB. These examples suggest wideband DPD is feasible and may be attractive for future mm-Wave 5G and B5G/6G applications.
