Target Detection and Recognition in Synthetic Aperture Radar Images Using YOLO Deep Learning Methods

The proposed system's framework applies the You Only Look Once (YOLO) method to perform preliminary testing and verification of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images from the Moving and Stationary Target Acquisition and Recognition (MSTAR) public database. The results show that YOLO3 and YOLO4 can identify MSTAR data well. However, for SAR images, YOLO3 performs better: the mAP is relatively high, and the performance is stable and consistent, i.e., lower standard deviation.
