Impedance Analysis and Resonance Mitigation for Boost PFC Converters Using Sample Correction

This article presents an impedance-based analysis on boost power factor correction (PFC) converters using the sample correction (SC) with current sampling. It is revealed that the SC factor brings a nondissipative region into the input impedance of PFC converter in the continuous conduction mode. Further, the nondissipative region includes an impedance peak, which may interact with the ac system impedance, leading to resonances. To address this issue, an enhanced SC method is proposed, which effectively passivates the input impedance of PFC converter. The simulations and experimental results validate theoretical findings and the effectiveness of the proposed method.
