Thermal Analysis of Induction Motor Rotor Winding During Direct On-Line Starting

This article presented an analytical approach for calculating the thermal state of the rotor winding during direct on-line starting of an induction motor. Overall, the thermal state in the rotor bars of an induction motor is an important consideration in the design and operation of the motor and must be managed to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the motor. The presented analytical method offers a simple and convenient way to analyze the thermal behavior of the rotor winding during direct on-line starting of an induction motor. The method takes into account various factors affecting the thermal behavior of the rotor winding, such as power losses, skin effect and the heat transfer between the steel of the rotor teeth and the bars. The analysis results provide insights into the thermal behavior of the rotor winding during the starting process, which can be useful in improving the design and operation of induction motors in industrial applications. Specifically, the article suggested ways to lower the temperature during the start-up process and reduce thermo mechanical stresses on the rotor winding.
