Reflections in a Meander Line Turn of Two Segments as a Resource for Suppressing UWB Excitations

The paper considers a meander line (ML) turn of two segments with different parameters of cross-section. It is proposed the reflections using at the joint of segments to additionally suppress the ultra-wideband (UWB) excitation. The conditions for UWB pulse decomposition in the turn are obtained and allow the reflected and main mode components to arrive simultaneously for their mutual compensation. As a result of their superposition, the output voltage waveform is represented as a sequence of four main components of smaller amplitudes. Simulation by different approaches was used to confirm the results, which demonstrate good voltage waveform agreement. To assess the danger of UWB excitation after its decomposition,

-norms were used. It was found that the proposed implementation of the turn allows reducing the

-norm values. The

-norm estimates indicate a decrease in the possibility of component burnout and equipment damage. The cumulative result suggests the possibility of such additional UWB excitation suppression by using reflections.
