The Use of Web-Portfolio Technology for Professional Foreign Language Training of Students in Electronic Educational Environment of Higher Education Institutions

The relevance of this study is determined by the expansion of the scope of information and communication technologies in the context of digitalization of higher education and the growth of competitiveness of specialists in the labor market. In the context of the global information space, the role of foreign language training of students of a non-linguistic university, who are able to demonstrate the results of their work in the language of international communication and use it in practice, both in oral and written forms, is increasing. The essence of the concept of “web-portfolio” is considered from the point of view of presenting the educational results of the activities of university students, as well as a means of self-presentation, motivation and reflection. The aim of this paper is to identify the didactic potential of authentic video-resources underlying the web-portfolio technology in the context of the development of foreign language knowledge and the formation of communication skills in the process of teaching a foreign language. The stages of work on video plots in the course of a teaching experiment for university students with the development of an appropriate structure and communicative tasks are highlighted. The experimental data show the effectiveness of this teaching tool, which allows mastering the necessary level of language training for students of a non-linguistic university. As a result, the conclusion is made about the importance of web-portfolio technology in the electronic educational environment of the university in the context of the formation of students' professional knowledge and communication skills.
