Method for Assessing the Interference Immunity of Non-Specialised Consumer Navigation Equipment

Intentional and unintentional interference can have an impact on the accuracy and reliability of global navigation satellite systems for positioning. This article introduces a method of estimating interference immunity for consumer-grade GNSS navigation equipment and provides test results of a widely used navigation module. The estimation of interference immunity is based on the suppression coefficient, which is the maximum ratio of jamming signal power to useful signal power at which the GNSS can determine navigation parameters accurately. During the experiment, the interference immunity of a non-specialized receiver is evaluated under different types of intentional interference. The evaluation is carried out separately in tracking mode and free search mode, under various dynamic conditions that can affect the stability of the tracking system. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective in assessing the interference immunity of consumer navigation equipment and could be useful in tests aimed at improving the reliability of GNSS.
