Mode-Selective Silicon Photonic Signal Processing Using Wideband, High-Efficiency Mode Converters

Using temporal Talbot effect followed by nonlinear processing in a silicon-on-insulator waveguide, we achieved wavelength multicast of 32-Gbaud 64-QAM signal with programmable spectral spacings from 75 to 150GHz. The convergence of photonic processing in singlemode and multimode platforms is realized using wideband, high-efficiency mode converters.
