Study on Excess Loss of Soft Magnetic Material Considering Skin Effect

At present, Bertotti’s excess loss model is used to calculate the excess loss of soft magnetic materials. However, this model ignores the uneven distribution of magnetic field during the actual operation. To accurately predict the excess loss of soft magnetic materials, an excess loss model was proposed from the perspective of skin effect. First, based on the measurement data of non-oriented silicon steel under sinusoidal excitation, the real permeability is introduced, and the classical loss model and hysteresis loss model considering skin effect are obtained by combining Maxwell’s equations and finite element method. Then, based on the Bertotti loss separation theory, a dynamic factor is introduced according to the effective value of magnetic density change rate, and the calculation of excess loss is transformed into a dynamic factor and a classical loss calculation. Finally, the calculation model of the excess loss of uneven magnetic field distribution is obtained, and the effectiveness of the model is verified by the comparison of experiments.
