Investigating the Antenna Feeding Parameter Effect on the Microwave Hyperthermia System

Microwave hyperthermia, which is suggested as an adjunctive method in the treatment of breast cancer, is a technique that aims to heat tumor regions within the breast using microwave energy. The hyperthermia device consists of a signal generator that produces microwave energy. The phase and amplitude, which are the antenna feeding parameters, are adjusted through the phase shifter device for each antenna, enabling appropriate focusing. Adjusting the hyperthermia parameters with high precision is challenging and costly. In this study, the required sensitivity of phase and amplitude variations was examined to maintain hyperthermia performance without decreasing it. The results indicate that, up to a certain level, lower sensitivity in phase and amplitude adjustments do not compromise hyperthermia performance. This finding holds significant importance for the clinical use of microwave hyperthermia.
