Non-Hermitian Topological Photonics Beyond the Tight-Binding Regime

Topological photonics is well studied in Hermitian systems. In these systems, the tight-binding model is the main tool of exploration. This model is however not well suited for Non-Hermitian systems due to the effect of long-range couplings. In this work, we look at topological photonics in Non-Hermitian systems and go beyond the tight-binding regime. We investigated a dimerized plasmonic chain beyond the quasistatic limit, using their resonances - Quasinormal Modes (QNMs) - as the fundamental machinery of exploration.
