Intelligent Imaging and Sensing based on Programmable Metasurface

Recently, electromagnetic (EM) sensing has been rapidly applied to many areas like science, health and military, working in a all-weather and all-day way without invasion of visual privacy. In order to tackle the data crisis of traditional EM sensing algorithms, we propose an intelligent metasurface sensing system by synergizing the programmable metasurface for flexible wave manipulation on physical level and artificial intelligence for powerful computation on data level. The integrated sensor can jointly learn the optimal settings of data acquisition and processing and achieves excellent performance on a variety of indoor imaging and detection tasks. The reported work could pave a new avenue for future smart homes and healthy monitoring.
