Fast Design of Millimeter-wave Bandpass Filter Using Metallic Photonic Crystal Structure

For 5G/5G beyond systems, novel platform including new transmission lines in millimeter wave as well as more efficient design methodology become inevitable. This paper presents a design of new planar bandpass filters (BPFs) using Metallic Photonic Crystal structure in millimeter wave band. A synthesis scheme based on sub-matrix provides a more efficient and fast design procedure than the traditional one. As an instant, with the proposed methodology, a direct-coupled BPF is designed and simulated. The simulated responses of the BPF agree well with the theoretical ones, which validates the proposed filter configuration and the corresponding design approach.
