Synthesis Theory and Modeling of Guided Wave-based Three-Dimensional Frequency-Selective Structures

This paper presents the synthesis and design methods of the guided wave-based three-dimensional (3-D) narrowband and wideband bandpass frequency-selective structures (FSSs), which are employing three filtering networks and numerical short-open-load (SOL) technique-based modeling extraction method. To predict the filtering performance of the desired FSS in advance, the circuit parameters of the corresponding equivalent circuit model (ECM) or filtering network are first calculated according to the given specifications. Subsequently, the physical layout of FSS is modeled by mapping to the ECM. Finally, three prototypes are presented to validate the proposed design conception.
