Ensemble CNN Model for Lung Cancer Classification

Lung cancer is one of the most fatal diseases across the globe. Due to the asymptomatic behavior of lung cancer, it cannot be detected earlier but if it is identified at the initial stage, the patients can be treated. For this reason, numerous techniques are developed by researchers to detect lung cancer from the lung images. Deep learning is a well-known technique used in performing medical image classification and also in lung cancer detection based on microscopic images. The proposed work implements a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model, a well-known deep learning method for classifying the lung cancer images. The dataset used in the proposed work is downloaded from kaggle. The existing Imagenet CNN model, Inception V3 and a novel CNN model are evaluated with the kaggle dataset. The proposed CNN model provides better performance than Inception V3 model in lung cancer classification.
