Wideband Beamforming Method for Uniform Circular Array Based on Empirical Mode Decomposition

The abstract summarizes key findings in the paper. According to the characteristics of underwater acoustic environment and underwater acoustic signals, a wideband beamforming method of uniform circular array based on empirical mode decomposition is proposed. The performance of traditional adaptive beamforming methods is affected when steering vector of signal is mismatch and the resolution of the conventional beamforming is limited by the “Rayleigh limit”. In this method, EMD is introduced into solve the above problems, and a new data matrix in modal domain is constructed. Array beamforming in modal domain can improve the detection effect of weak targets in the interference environment. Experimental data processing results show that the proposed method can obtain the range and azimuth parameters of the signals effectively and performs superior interference suppression ability.
