Sub-Aperture Mosaic Imaging Approach for Automotive Millimeter Wave SAR Imaging

This paper proposes a polar format algorithm based on the sub-aperture mosaic, which is used to image the squint stripmap automotive millimeter wave radar echo data. By dividing the full aperture of the echo into sub-apertures, imaging the sub-aperture data with the polar format algorithm, and finally mosaicking the sub-images, the algorithm solves the severe problem of two-dimensional coupling in squint imaging of automotive millimeter wave radar. Moreover, the real-time imaging in automotive environment is taken into account when using polar format algorithm to process sub-aperture data. Simulation and processing of measured data demonstrate the effectiveness and real-time performance of the proposed method.
