Land Use Geodatabase of Baghdad City Creation Using Geographic Information System Technology

This research aims to create a geographic database for Baghdad city due to its great importance being the capital, its important location, and its large urban expansion to produce a geographic map for land use with important characteristics of it using geographical information system (GIS). Vector data (shapefiles), raster data (satellite images), and Non-Spatial Data (population statistical data) were used to study the area in this research. All this data is imported into an empty geographical database that is created using ArcGIS software 10.4. The result showed accurate geographical maps of the study area and the defining land uses through its administrative sub-divisions, government (general sector (and nongovernment (special sector) projects established on it, and its connection to the road network, in addition to the statistical population data within the administrative regions. Thus, it became possible to access detailed project information with ease, and it is hoped that this research will serve in the development of work toward proposing suitable lands for future projects establishment.
