Numerical Analysis of Wind Turbine Airfoil Aerodynamic of Wind Turbine Blade

Wind energy is one of the low-cost renewable energies when compared with other sources. Malaysia with its low mean wind speed is suitable for small-scale wind turbines. This project analyzed aerodynamic performance in two types of airfoils to figure out the aerodynamic efficiency of the wind turbines. NACA 4412 airfoil and SG 6043 airfoil used FLUENT ANSYS analysis to determine the critical angle of attack. With various angles of attack, lift coefficients and drag coefficients were calculated. The lift-to-drag ratio was determined to get a critical angle of attack. SG 6043 airfoil with a 6° angle of attack showed better performance where the maximum lift-to-drag ratio of 40.1547, was found to be higher than NACA 4412 airfoil.
