Evaluation of Simulation-based Digital Front-Loading for Conducted Emission Challenges

The challenge for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Compatibility (EMC) compliance is exponentially growing with the demand and growth of electric vehicles. Thus, digitally evaluating the EMI/EMC at the early design stages becomes vital. This paper highlights the analysis of multiple modules within a sub-system from a typical electric vehicle architecture. The measured conducted emissions of individual modules are compared to the simulated results yielded by two approaches; one based on the measurement of excitation waveforms and the other based on the modelling of the excitation waveforms. The comparison between the results summarizes the accuracy and limitations of the modelled approaches to attain high-fidelity digital front-loading methods.
