A Wide Input Range High Temperature Resistant Buck DC-DC Converter

The traditional buck type DC-DC converter is difficult to meet the application requirements for high-temperature and high-voltage applications, such as oil downhole power and vehicle power. In this paper, a PWM-based voltage-mode system architecture is used to implement a DC-DC converter with low line regulation over a wide input range, while a high-voltage linear regulator and a high-gain error amplifier are integrated. At the same time, a frequency adjustable oscillator is integrated to achieve a flexible system operating frequency. The prototype of the converter, implemented in a 180nm CMOS process, with a linearity 0.03% over a wide input voltage range of 12∼45V and an operating temperature of − 40∼175°C.
