Abstract:

The increasing number of GCash users in the Philippines comes with demands for available machines for cash-in and cash-out transactions. However, cash-in machines are only available as of the moment, while cash-out through kiosks and remittance centers are overwhelmed with long queues. This paper presents a method of design and development of a machine that is able to do GCash cash-in and cash-out transactions. It is composed primarily of bill acceptor, touch screen monitor, microcontroller, computer unit, and coin hopper and vacuum system for dispensing bills. The machine is tested and evaluated based on its functionality and acceptability. Each of the components were tested for 17 different amounts in Philippine peso. As a result, all of the devices are 100% functional. The speed of transaction for each cash-in and cash-out transaction is tested three times for each bill in Philippine peso (P): 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000. In result, the average speed for cash-in transaction is 31.16s for all bills mentioned while for cash-out, an average of 30.22s for bills P20, P50, and P100, and 44s for P500 and P100 bills. These transaction speeds are reasonable enough for GCash credit transfer transactions. In the future this machine will be further developed with added features, faster, and efficient devices integrated to it.
