A SiPM-Based Wireless Neutron-Gamma Spectrometer for Remote Monitoring

In this study, we designed a wireless neutron-gamma spectrometer based on SiPM for remote monitoring, which uses a CLYC scintillator and SiPM array to detect gamma and neutron events. CLYC scintillator coupled with SiPM array is very suitable for small detectors. The wireless energy spectrometer has a size of 100 $\times$ 80 $\times$ 30 mm and a weight of about 300g. After the signal is digitalized in the analog-to-digital converter (ADC), the data will be transmitted to the FPGA for processing to achieve waveform reconstruction, cache, energy spectrum accumulation and other functions. The results are uploaded to the upper computer through the ZigBee wireless transmission protocol, and the present monitoring results are displayed. The wireless spectrometer provides 13% energy resolution at 662 keV, and a full energy range up to 1.5 MeV. The experimental results display that the wireless spectrometer realizes the remote monitoring of radiation activities on the basis of portability, which greatly facilitates the field environmental radiation detection.
