Study on Front-End Board for Radioactive Gas Dose Monitor Based on PIPS Detector

In this paper, a design of front-end board (FEB) is reported. This FEB can be used in gas dose monitor based on passivated implanted planar silicon (PIPS) detector to collect and process signals received by PIPS detector. The FEB consists of two symmetrical circuits, each of which can process and collect signals from the PIPS detector. The symmetrical structure is designed for coincidence measurement to help eliminate the effects of interfering radiation in radioactive gas dose monitor. The experimental results show that the time signal output by the circuit has a rise time of about 0.4 us, and the amplitude signal waveform is close to a Gaussian shape. PIPS detectors with different sensitive areas and pole-zero phase elimination circuit are used to enhance the performance of the FEB at high count rates. The entire FEB adopts a low power design, with a power consumption of only 0. 1W during operation. The theoretical basis of circuit design is discussed and the circuit implementation is given. Based on the results of practical experiments, the basic principles of selecting parameters in the FEB are given.
