Research on Spectrum Sharing Technology

The investment, coverage, capacity, and quality of mobile networks are all directly impacted by the non-renewable and limited nature of the wireless spectrum. With the massive investment in 5G networks, some 4G users will migrate to 5G networks, and due to the scarcity of 5G spectrum resources, it is necessary to re-farm 4G spectrum, but 4G services are still available at the beginning of 5G, so the spectrum cannot be completely re-farmed to 5G. 4G/5G spectrum sharing technology creates unlimited possibilities for performers to realize 5G NR coverage in low frequency bands, which helps operators to smoothly transition from 4G to 5G users. This paper discusses the 2.1GHz spectrum refarming scheme and also conducts experiments in 2.1GHz 40MHz spectrum sharing scenario, through which the experimental data can give a reference value for the subsequent 2.1GHz smooth evolution.
