Optimization of VR Video Wireless Transmission Based on Fountain Code

With the rapid development of virtual reality technology, products and equipment related to virtual reality technology emerge in endlessly. Among them, VR video attracts much attention because it can bring people an immersive visual experience. However, VR video has problems such as insufficient bandwidth and information loss in wireless transmission. This paper designs a VR video wireless transmission architecture combining view prediction, layered coding and source coding technologies to optimize the wireless transmission of VR video. For the algorithm implementation, Kalman filtering is used for view prediction, so that when fountain code is used for channel coding, image regions of different importance are distinguished for compression. The simulation results show that the performance of the fountain code based VR video transmission scheme is improved by about 41% compared with the equal error protection scheme.
