Vehicle Load Model of Highway Bridge and Its Application in Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction

Vehicle load is the key live load for structural design and safety evaluation of highway bridges. Accurate and reliable vehicle load model is related to the safe operation of the bridge. According to the research results at home and abroad, the differences between the heavy vehicle load effect and the code load model effect under overload in various regions are analyzed. The results show that the load effect of heavy vehicles in some areas exceeds the effect of the standard model by about 20% ~ 50%, and the coverage capacity of the standard model is insufficient. The differences of vehicle load models in different regions are compared. The results show that the vehicle weight of the main vehicle model in most areas is about 250kN. The vehicle weight of the heavy vehicle model varies from region to region. It is about 770kN in most parts of China, which is larger than that in the United States and Europe. The application of vehicle load model in earthquake prevention and disaster reduction of highway bridges is further reviewed. Finally, the problems and challenges faced by highway bridge load model are discussed, and the future research hotspots are prospected.
