Simulink Regression Modelling and Analysis for Production and Storage of Green Hydrogen

Renewable energy sources are sporadic and unpredictable despite their abundance. As a consequence of numerous obstacles, they are unable to transmit the energy they generate. This fact necessitates the incorporation of energy storage solutions to circumvent this substantial disadvantage. In the sphere of energy storage systems, the production of green hydrogen using various types of electrolyzers powered by excess energy derived from renewable sources has a promising future. Although renewable hydrogen appears to be a more attractive option for replacing obsolete storage systems, it presents significant storage difficulties. Matlab/Simulink is used in this study to demonstrate a comprehensive model of a hydrogen subsystem consisting of a proton exchange membrane electrolyzer and a storage vessel. The PEM model employs recently developed regression models to determine the hydrogen flowrate at varying electrolyzer current inputs. By applying a specific compression pressure, the established models demonstrate how hydrogen behaves dynamically in the storage state.
