Analysis and Implementation of Single Feed Dual-Band Compact Slotted Antenna at 28/38 GHz for 5G Applications

Modern communication systems provide the opportunity for the quick development of microstrip patch antennas. Due to their small weight, patch antennas are more and more prevalent today. They are simple to manufacture and integrate into the feeding network due to their lightweight and low profile. A single-feed dual-band compact antenna for 5G applications that operates in the 28 and 38 GHz millimeter wave band and has wider bandwidth was proposed in this paper. Rogers 4350 substrate with relative permittivity 3.48 and loss tangent 0.0037 is used in the design and implementation of the antenna with aid of CST software. The rectangular radiator of the antenna is ($4.62 \times 4.49 \times 0.25$) ${mm}^{3}$ in total. An unsymmetrical L-shaped slot etched from the ground plane to create the first resonant frequency 28 GHz while an asymmetrical U-shaped strip is placed in the bottom left corner of the slot to stimulate the necessary phase disruption to produce a CP radiation. According to the simulations and implementation findings, the antenna achieved a large bandwidth across the higher band (38 GHz) with fractional bandwidth 16.9% and in the lower band (28 GHz) with 14.63%.
