Traveling Wave Elliptical Slotted SIW Antenna

In this paper, two slotted SIW antenna has been presented based on a conventional rectangular slot and a novel elliptical slot shape. the proposed antennas consist of 20 slots in order to provide a scanning angle of more than 20° in the C band. The conventional slot can’t meet these requirements. On the other hand, the elliptical shape has the ability to increase the operating bandwidth furthermore, increasing the scanning range angle. The proposed elliptical slot shape antenna has a wide operating frequency from 3.8GHz to 5GHz, in addition to that a wide scanning angle of more than 30° over the band from 3.8 to 4.7GHz with a stable gain of about 14dBi. The proposed antennas have been simulated using HFSS software, However, the elliptical shape antenna has been fabricated and measured. Avery good agreement between simulation and measures results have been achieved.
