Analysis on IoT Networks Security : Threats, Risks, ESP8266 based Penetration Testing Device and Defense Framework for IoT Infrastructure

The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) has presented novel prospects and complications for networking. The multitude of interconnected gadgets and systems provides unparalleled convenience and productivity. Nevertheless, IoT networks are susceptible to a diverse range of security hazards and vulnerabilities such as malware, botnets, unauthorized entry, inadequate encryption measures or weak passwords among others. For legacy IEEE 802.11-based WiFi infrastructures used in IoT deployment models, deauthentication attacks may serve as a possible attack/countermeasure against exploitable susceptibilities. Hence, it is imperative to incorporate them into a more extensive defense mechanism comprising encryption, authentication, and surveillance. By adopting a holistic strategy towards IoT network security, entities can enhance their capability in safeguarding their systems and gadgets against malevolent intrusions and unapproved admittance. This paper introduces a ESP8266 NodeMCU based prototype that executes the deauthentication attack on IoT devices through passive scanning methods for penetration testing.
