Investigation of an Alternate method for disease detection using a liquid CSRR sensor

The objective of this report is to investigate the glucose level of diabetic patients by taking their urine samples for this measurement an effective biomedical liquid sensor, working on the principle of metamaterial, using CSRR, is designed for dielectric measurement of the urine samples of diabetic patients. This work analyses a high-sensitivity microwave glucosensor with a microfluidic channel known as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Three rings that are square-shaped in CSRR are designed for high sensing, where the PDMS channel is placed to measure the variation in frequency. For accurate frequency response, each urine sample is tested three times and an average of these samples is taken as a result. The urine glucosensor is placed on the foundation of the Rogers RT6002 dielectric substrate. The sensitivity of the proposed sensor is demonstrated in laboratory tests using a Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) setup and a variety of urine samples from diabetic patients. The developed sensor has a remarkable ability to detect minute dielectric variations, in addition to having other beneficial qualities including compact size, feasible production technique, low cost, nonionizing nature, and no risk to human health. The benefit of this work is non-invasive disease detection by liquid monitoring.
