An Optimal Scheduling Tool for the Realization of Onshore Power Supply at Seaports with Limited Power Supply from the Distribution Grid

Onshore power supply (OPS) is gaining significant ground as a technology, due to the environmental benefits that it offers. Although OPS implementation has been studied taking into consideration several factors, including local renewable energy production and microgrid operation, there are limited studies that investigate the scenario where there is not adequate power capacity to interconnect all the ships berthing in the port. In this study, a simple software tool is developed to schedule the onshore power supply system operation, by means of optimally selecting the ships which should connect to the onshore power supply installation, aiming to maximize its environmental benefits, and depending on the constraints each port is subject to. The developed software tool is publicly available in GitHub.
